Old Town Watercrafts (“Old Town,” “we,” or “us”) provides the following limited warranty to the original retail purchaser (“Consumer”) of our products. This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use, subject to the terms, conditions, and limitations described below.

1. Watercraft Warranty

Hull and Deck

  • The hull and deck of any Old Town kayak or canoe are covered for the lifetime of the boat from the original purchase date by the Consumer.

Electric Motor Drive Systems

  • For electric motor drive systems, including AutoPilot, Minn Kota, and ePDL+, Old Town warrants the system to be materially free from defects in materials and workmanship for two (2) years from the original purchase date.

PDL Drive

  • For pedal drive systems (PDL), Old Town warrants the system to be materially free from defects in materials and workmanship for five (5) years from the original purchase date.

2. Accessories Warranty

  • Accessories, including paddles, life jackets, seats, and other equipment, are covered for one (1) year from the original purchase date.

3. Blemished Boats and Rentals

Blemished Boats

  • Hull and deck coverage for boats marked as BLEMS is five (5) years from the original purchase date.

Rental, Demonstration, and Outfitter Boats

  • Standard watercraft used for rental, demonstration, resort, or outfitter purposes: 90 days from the date of delivery to the Consumer.
  • Special “outfitter grade” watercraft for rental or demonstration: one (1) year from the date of delivery.

4. Warranty Coverage

  • Old Town will, at our option, repair or replace any part found defective during the warranty period.
  • Repaired or replaced products are covered for the remainder of the original warranty period, or for 90 days from the date of repair or replacement, whichever is longer.
  • For warranty claims, proof of purchase, boat serial number, and a detailed description of the issue are required.

5. How to Make a Warranty Claim

  1. Contact our Customer Service Department:

    • Proof of purchase, date, and place of purchase
    • Product serial number, model, color, and configuration
    • Consumer name, address, and phone number
    • Detailed description of the defect or issue
  3. Follow instructions for product return or repair, including obtaining a Return Authorization Number if required.

6. What This Warranty Does Not Cover

This warranty does not apply to products that:

  • Have been used for commercial purposes (except rental/demonstration/outfitter use as outlined above)
  • Have been subjected to misuse, abuse, negligence, accidents, or improper storage
  • Show normal wear and tear or environmental damage
  • Have been modified or repaired by unauthorized parties
  • Were damaged during shipping or handling by freight carriers
  • Were not manufactured by Old Town or were made to custom specifications

To be eligible, the Consumer must retain proof of purchase and maintain the product according to manufacturer guidelines.

7. Limitation of Liability

  • Old Town’s liability under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement of defective parts, at our option.
  • Old Town is not liable for incidental, consequential, punitive, or special damages, including lost profits or costs associated with product use.
  • The maximum aggregate liability is limited to the original purchase price of the defective product.

8. Governing Law

  • This warranty is governed by the laws of California, USA, without regard to conflicts of law.
  • For international customers in Canada, Germany, and Switzerland, local consumer protection laws may apply.
  • This warranty gives you specific legal rights; other rights may vary depending on your jurisdiction.

9. Additional Terms

  • Any assistance or services provided outside the terms of this warranty do not extend or modify the warranty.
  • Replacement boats are warranted only after receipt of serial number cut-outs from the defective boat, if applicable.
  • All warranties, expressed or implied, are limited to the periods stated above.
